Sometimes it will be by your own hand, other times another artist will do it. I'll point to the example of music, rock in particular, of which I know intimately. The sounds of successful bands are copied frequently. The Beatles took inspiration from 50s rock n rol, asd did the Stones, and they went on to influence generations. Coming up to the present, you have a band like Nirvana and the rest of the 80s-90s Seatle rock scene which were actively trying to mimick the past "Arena Rock" sound which was often associated with Glam Bands. Or even look at a newer sound like that of Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave fame. You can't say he wasn't directly influenced by Robert Plant of Led Zepplin.
I do appreciate your comments but this is not an instance of something as general and vague as the "sounds" being emulated. This is MUCH more like Queen & Vanilla Ice or Rick James & Mc Hammer as a relatively small but hugely important "riff" was copied by the nominally talented "musicians" for commercial exploitation in their normally forgettable songs.

Great art is great art, Period. If it's good, people will buy it. Sure, we're all on a budget but it's not like we have one clip to buy for the rest of our lives. If I've got two great clips in front of me, I'll make a decision and pick one, then in a week or two I'll get the next! Simple!
Sure I see what you are saying like I see where Anahki is coming from and I think we all agree on the main issue here but as fans you of course are going to be thrilled with the "competition" and Taylor and I of course have no choice but to try and make even better stuff(which is always what we try and do) because the only way for some to compete is to duplicate and flood the marketplace ad nauseam.

We have a lot of pride in our originality and our level of quality we try to achieve with our product. The thing is if some of our "competitors" had even half the amount of pride as we do there would be SO MUCH LESS duplication and that would keep the scales balanced in a monetary sense. But obviously thats just not the case.
