The thing is, Soy, Suti and company were barely complaining at all, and it was certainly anything but overly negative. They all noted the fantastic quality of the video, as well as the process within. Furthermore they merely pointed out a few aspects that they didn't enjoy (and even went so far as to point out that others may).
I guess I just never see a problem with someone saying "It's great because _____, but it's not my cup of tea/something negative," regardless of the situation. Nobody has been condoning the act of piracy itself, merely reacting to material presented to them.
Look, I'm a musician, and I know first hand how damaging piracy can be. Sure I would be upset if someone was criticizing my work after obtaining it illegally. However I would never dispute their right to do so (criticize it, not steal it obviously).
