Yeah, they'd never do a true Smurfs movie with it set in the forest and everything. No instead the whole thing probably takes place in a department store with kids playing with them and adults thinking they're toys.
Very lame, no actual sets just stores and houses and CG characters inserted later. But this is what they do with everything like that nowadays, the Chipmunks, Garfield. Next it'll be Rainbow Bright and MLP.
