@Hexen - I honestly couldn't tell you. I haven't made a study of them or anything. Umm, I loved the old Sherlock Holmes books and... ummm... God, wow, what else? Nothing really that comes to mind. I used to watch a lot of British shows when I was a kid but they weren't set in that time period. Kind of a sucky answer - sorry

I just tried to picture it and then tone done the language, watching for something that might be out of place. I'm sure there're inaccuracies but I tried to look up things here and there to add a little flavor to it. Like the name of the docked ship or journal or things.
So, yeah, nothing sticks out in particular but I've read a huge amount of different stories over the years and watched tons of movies and shows so probably just pieced things together.
