I think it's just that he actually took the time to figure out where the pelvis and femur were and modeled it off of that rather than just a pair of balloons hanging off the back. I wish *more* expansion artists actually bothered to figure out how such massive lumps of flesh would interact with each other and the rest of the body they're attached to.
