Hive Venus was easily my favorite story in Dark Planet Vol. 1, but the Vol. 2 continuation ruined a good idea.

The first one focused on the process itself, with Mina slowly going nuts while she was trapped in the cocoon and whatnot. When it was Makoto's turn to join the hivemind in Chapter 2, it was just like "I'm going to generically rape you until you grow insect parts for no particular reason."

Then again, I haven't actually read Vol. 2 since, as far as I know, it was never translated. Maybe there's something in the description that makes it work, but the illustrations definitely did nothing for me.
