The Wayback Machine has never cached image files in any large amounts, it's always been that way. I understand why; basic HTML pages are small and canbe stored in bulk, but if they'd cached
all the things then they would need more storage. In fact, they'd probably be looking at a larger server farm than the combined sum of the internet as it is now.
