Re: Best detection method (A Warehouse 13 BE story)
Chapter...uh...28.
Claudia woke up feeling refreshed and comfortable. She couldn't remember when she had been so tired. She slept like a baby, however, and now she lay snuggled in the covers, feeling fantastic from a great night's sleep. She didn't want to move, but she knew she had to when her Farnsworth started buzzing.
Reaching across the table, she opened it up to see Myka on the screen. "Oh..you're not even dressed yet. Claudia come on! There's already been another incident!" Myka's voice sounded pretty desperate, but Claudia thought it was kind of funny for some reason. The way her voice cracked sometimes when she spoke in a high pitch was very cute. Claudia assured her it would only be a few minutes until she was dressed, and closed the Farnsworth.
Getting out of bed, Claudia wondered she she felt so different today and wandered over to the pile of clothes. She went to put on her bra, and that was when she remembered. Overshadowing her entire torso were a pair of breasts, that to her, were so large they should each have their own name preceded by "Mount." In truth, she was only slightly larger than she had been the day before. She knew she couldn't hide the truth from Myka any longer. Her proud breasts seemed to both defy gravity and be comprised entirely of jello. They didn't seem to sag as she expected from breasts this large, and they jiggled and quivered with even the slightest movement.
Clothes were a bit of a problem, but Claudia knew she couldn't hide it from Myka any longer. It was time to show her what was happening. Perhaps they could figure it out and help Claudia before she became too developed. She wouldn't mind keeping a few of the benefits, but she didn't want to get too big. Finally, she went with a dark purple t-shirt and a jacket, with blue jeans for a bottom. She took a few minutes to make sure her hair was combed, and then left to meet Myka. Standing outside her door, Claudia held her hand up, preparing to knock, but trying to think of what to say. Finally, she knocked on the door three times.
"Um, Myka...it's Claudia. I'm sorry I'm late, but don't open the door yet there's-" Her words stopped for a second as the door swung open wide and Myka stood in front of her. For a second Myka smiled and opened her mouth to say something, when she noticed that there was now more Claudia than there had been yesterday. "...Something I was going to tell you. Well, this should make the conversation a lot shorter." Claudia spent the next few minutes discussing what all had happened up to the point she had knocked on Myka's door, hoping maybe she could come up with something. "Look, Claudia...I don't know what's going on with you, and I promise we'll find a way to fix it back when we're at the Warehouse, but if it seems to have slowed down some, we should really concentrate on the task at hand. There are people being hurt, and we can't let that continue. When we get back, Artie can-" Myka was interrupted by Claudia almost leaping at her, grasping her shoulders."Whatever you do, don't tell Artie! I can NOT let him know this artifact got the better of me. I would never live it down." Myka shrugged and agreed to keep it a secret. "I won't say a word but I can tell you now he's gonna notice one way or another. My advice, if he calls, keep your Farnsworth pointed up. Now, let's get going."
The pair left the motel and headed towards a small back alley in the middle of the city. There was a bank nearby, one which had been robbed early in the morning. There was no getaway truck and somehow the robber hand managed to scale an eleven foot high spiked security fence. No one knew how he'd managed to get away with all that cash, and this was the third bank hit with the same method. There was almost no question on Myka or Claudia's mind that an artifact was in play. Still, it wasn't something they could even guess at, considering it could be anything. "So, Artie's sure this is something that defies gravity, and not a way to increase strength." Claudia asked, looking up at the tall fence. "Because he carried out all those bags of cash? What if the artifact can decrease the weight of more than just the person holding it?" Myka asked as she looked over at Claudia, the pair on the same train of thought. "Because of the dumpster yesterday. Good point. Well, let me work my magic."
Claudia rummaged through the bag she had brought with her, and brought out a small mechanical device. It looked like it had a large dish on it and resembled a science fiction blaster. "TADA! I give to you the Donovan tracker Three Thousand. This magical gizmo can track the trail of anyone we have a DNA sample of as far back as twenty four hours, and can be yours for the low, low, price of my bedroom radio." Myka decided not to ask further questions and quickly found the evidence bag. She remembered seeing a strand of hair on a wad of chewing gum they had found at the crime scene. Placing it in the machine, they watched as it beeped and the dish spun. Suddenly, a small red beam lept from the device and spread in two opposite directions. One led into the bank, and the other moved over the fence...very high over the fence. "Well, my dear Watson, it appears we have a trail..." Claudia joked, remarking how high the trail led. "Yes, let us begin the hunt! ...and I'm not Watson."

Sorry that took so long. I hope to continue this, since I set out to do it, lol. Also, fans of the show should be interested in what the artifact is, at least if they paid attention to the original opening credits.
