Re: New Transformation Clip From TMC: Zombie
I posted this over on the TMC forum but I wanted to reiterate it for the Process folks here.
So I was finally able to watch the zombie clip just now and I really have to commend Taylor & Co. on a job well-done! I wasn't one of the people clamoring for this type of TF clip but I am a huge Walking Dead fan and I still really thought they did a great job!
One thing they did with this that I thought was very successful was that it has a very cinematic feel! Of all of the clips I've watched so far, I think this one felt the most like an actual movie as opposed to just a single scene and I found that it really gave it some production value. This clip takes place throughout multiple locations rather than just in a single room, broadening the scope of the story.
The subtle makeup effects that spread over Holly's body throughout the course of the clip were incredibly effective and that is exactly the type of thing I have been wanting to see in the animal TF clips as well, which I think they did great experimenting with in the horse clip. I really like the idea of the changes being sort of unnoticeable at first and then they get worse and worse. There's something about the character's unawareness to those subtle changes at first that makes it feel more realistic, imo.
As always, Holly proves to be a great sport about these clips and gives the acting 110%. There's a good reason why the fans (myself included) request her to be in so many clips.
If you go back and watch some of the TMC clips from a year ago and then watch clips such as this one, you'll see just how much they've grown in the effort put into the productions. From the makeup and acting, down to the multiple scenes and even better editing, the clips have a greater production value now, i.e. more bang for your buck.
When you think about how niche of a market Taylor & Bud are catering to here, it really is amazing what they've done in creating these clips. I mean, even big-budget Hollywood productions have shied away from showing TF scenes with process on screen time and time again. Because it's difficult to execute effectively without good CGI.
Anyways, enough of my rambling. Just wanted to give Taylor proper kudos for taking a chance on this type of clip and for doing a very respectable job at executing it.
