Re: Man of Steel Review, Spoiler Free

OK just got back from seeing the movie.

The plot was paper thin and predictable, but at the same time I kinda expect that from a Superman title. The movie felt like it kinda...jumped all over the place, however. The origin story didn't bother me as much as others did but they did take too long to get into the action. If they kept the origin to simply the little flashbacks here and there when they were relevant to what was happening in the plot, it would have been fine.

Now the action was awesome. The fight between Superman and Zod really felt like the kind of fight you would see between two gods. That said there should have been MORE of this, and less Superman wondering "Should I do something?!" to every situation.

I'm willing to be generous and give this movie an overall 6/10, the fight scenes redeem a lot of the shortcomings but are not enough to hold the movie on their own. I think there is still potential in this reboot to warrant a sequal, and now that the origin is out of the way it could focus on what we want: Superman pummeling the hell out of a big baddie.
