By the way, how crazy/awesome would it be if this were the prequel to the Godzilla movie that Legendary Pictures is also producing? I know they don't have the same director, and there weren't any cameos, but still; Pacific Rim may as well be a two hour-long test screening for Godzilla.

While very much a Godzilla throwback, you cannot deny that Gypsy didn't remind you of Big O with that Rocket Punch. Actually of all the Mecha Animes out there, I think Big O is the closest to this one in terms of the design of the robots and how they fight.
This movie was great. The plot was paper thin (which for a movie like this is a GOOD thing), the characters were over the top and cartoony (again, a good thing), and the giant Robots/Aliens were all so different from one another that you could always tell them apart. Each one had it's own personality to how it fought, and
no fight was a carbon copy of the last. They do something new each time. Seriously, Mr.Bay you could learn a thing or two from Del Toro, because THIS is how you make giant robots. Not your fucking giant heaps of scrap metal that you cant tell apart from one another unless they are like 50 feet separated.

Grown Ups 2 is beating this movie in the box office. I want you to think about that a moment. GU2....is a giant steaming pile of shit topped with vomit...the movie is horrible and makes me want to gouge my eyes and ears out so that I never have to experience it again.
And it is beating Pacific Rim because people are fucking idiots and find that stupid shit funny. Let's face it, the general public wouldn't know good
anything even if it hit them in the fucking face.
