It's been a personal goal of mine to start a town one day. Pie in the sky it is, if I EVER get the opportunity I'm being totally serious. The more sexual deviants the better. Do you know how much I've thought of this?? Watch and be dismayed.

A good friend of mine is an Army officer who is as crazy as me and could easily bring some buddies to be the local law enforcement, mostly just to keep the riff-raff out. He's smart, well traveled, and very handsome. And into BDSM.

I'm obviously the local doc. Also smart and handsome, obv. We wouldn't have a hospital but I could establish a local volunteer ambulance corps to get people there for the serious stuff. I probably wouldn't be busy enough to justify being at the office all day so I'd be on call all the time, even for house calls. That gives me opportunity to take care of other jobs, see below.

If there were no kids in the picture right away, we would have at least a few years to build a school and find some teachers, though Rach and I could part-time teach some science and math classes, Magnus the English. Oz and Gabby the PE. Wanted: history, music, art. We can easily hold off on sports teams until the kids are old enough.

We attract some entrepreneurs for local entertainment...pubs, restaurants, movie theaters, etc. This would be difficult if we didn't want them to know our "terrible, dark secret." Any of us could get the loan money and be confident the first businesses would succeed because of so little competition, but it's about having the time to run these places.

We hire GearRyu to handle all the town incorporation paperwork, unless he wants to live there too and do it pro-bono. If he's down he would also be a good candidate to establish the local legislature, which I want nothing to do with except for holding a seat on the council.

I'm nominating Red Mage as mayoral candidate.

Need to find a good contractor to do all the building. We're gonna wanna go as clean as possible, lots of solar paneling, and backup generators for every house that are both gas and battery-powered. The batteries are transportable because at the local gym we're going to have a big room full of stationary bikes that you hook your battery to in order to charge it. We have regular spin sessions led be OhZone to keep the community healthy. Wind farm a big plus if we can afford it.

We probably will not have a church or place of worship specific to one religion, but I'm thinking of reserving one all-purpose religion building for people that want it. Different congregations share space and time.

Airstrip. Need an airstrip. Maybe a helipad for urgent medical transports. I doubt we'd be any less than 20 minutes from the nearest hospital. Learning how to fly is on my list so I could double as pilot. I'm sure my Army buddy will hit that too at some point.

I'd like to do our own food production, and something tells me Rach would be a great agriculture queen. Farming is definitely full time work, so we'd need dedicated people for this.

Volunteer fire department all the way, every adult is trained and on it. Everybody's always on call.

And for one generation, we shall have a utopia. Then our idiot kids will definitely screw it all up.
