I generally like to peruse Morwalugi's threads to see if he throws me under the bus (and I have also become interested in trying to figure out what exactly is going on, still working on that).
But all I came here to say is that it seems most cameras are using an AVCHD format (.mts) as a raw format which has to be converted into something usable after the fact, unless you are playing from the camcorder (the raw files play on my computers, though I don't know if that's a software issue).
