Not a huge skin-rippage fan, but I always liked that sequence.

Personally, my biggest problem with skin rippage isn't the squick factor but the fact that it's very different from how I feel a TF should look. If a TFee is getting hairy, I feel like the hair should be growing out of her skin, not underneath it.

That said, I'm partial to the idea of skin shedding for reptilian, arthropod, or non-mammalian sci-fi/fantasy TFs. For example, I like the imagery of a character scratching an itch on her arm, scraping away dead skin and uncovering a patch of scales or exoskeleton. I don't think it's quite the same as skin rippage, but it's similar.
