It is simply the fact that the comic looks like a semi-proffesional artist work. If I had seen it on deviantart I would have appreciated the effort and encouraged him to enhance his skills, but for a professional artist with a (supposed) professional work, it simply does not reach the minimum expected for something that is (I understand) well paid. You can have a personal style, but inside that it could be good or bad. E.g.: look at the guy with glasses one, he has the same pose, same drawing and so on, looking like a "copy and paste" thing. And the colors and poses are simply plain. And the facial expressions are the worst of all: one could know about the talent of an artist simply by having a look at that.
Sorry, but the comic is far below from what is expected to be in a mainstream commercial product.
