Well, in my opinion it is very questionable if someone is good or bad in terms of artistic matters. What is really important is to develop your drawing skills to the maximum, and then apply your own style to it.
In a world with a large competition community like this, what marks the difference is, in the end, the talent, but it should be others, not you, the ones to judge it... simply being successful (or not) with the projects. I cannot help you with that, but as you said, if you start having more and more commisions, it is because you give something better/different from the others. Luck just happens once or twice, for the real success you need the talent . Just try. Even a "small" try could be ok, right?
