With this much enthusiasm, I'm sure it'll work out wonderfully.

One other thought I had at work: if the match is going to START already that small, well... the shrink rays don't haaaaaaaave to start halving our sizes right away.

1.) Start with 18 zaps and shrink per the usual rules (every zap after 19 halves your size)
2.) start at 10% of our height, and zaps shrink us from there. (i.e. i'm 6.6in tall, and 1 zap brings me down to 6.27in. Then 5.94... 5.61... etc)
