For me, it was TransFur in 2004, which is when I got internet at home for the first time. I remember a good bunch of pieces got erased when they stopped hosting TF involving fictional characters; like an amazing Zilla transformation sequences, and one with Xena and Gabrielle transforming into minotaurs.
And of course, there was Arania's gallery and the process back in the day.
