I'm sure you guys remember this image from a SBS of "One Piece", where after a question from a fan, Oda drew a picture of the members of the Strawhat Pirates transgendered; thanks to the powers of Emporio Ivankov. This was the result:


Well, it appears that recently, Oda drew another picture of characters transgendered. This time, it was the Supernovas, the high level rookies that rivalize with Luffy for the title of the Pirate King. These are the results:


By any chance, anyone knows about more sketchs of One Piece transgendered characters?

For those not in the know, here are the characters that were changed in the second picture, from left to right and top to bottom:

Does anyone happen to know what each character is saying? I remember coming across the initial image in an English copy of the manga which had translated what the Straw Hats were saying, but this one is too new for me to be that lucky again.

Couple of translation notes:


Bonney is asking specifically for 'donburi', a porcelain bowl heaped high with rice. I felt the more generic 'dish' word was a better cultural translation.

Urouge is referring to the leaders of the world government. In the subbed episodes of One Piece I've seen, they're called 'Celestial Dragons' so I've kept that convention here.

Trafalgar adds an idiosyncratic name suffix to everyone (you'll note him calling people [name]-ya in the anime) whose kanji means seller/dealer/shop owner. I tried to get an equivalent English term of address without knowing how they've dealt with it in the official dubs (which I haven't seen).

Scratchmen Apoo is my favorite Supernova, so I'm glad Scratchgal is the cutest of the bunch.

I'm pretty sure her quote is a reference to Apoo's little tussle with Kid.
