Fred Perry's Gold Digger

Alright, can someone tell me what's going on with Fred Perry's Gold Digger? A few months ago solicitations popped up for issue 254, featuring a mad doctor with a shrink ray. I was looking forward to it. It was advertised here, there, and every damn where.

And then, when the release date rolls around... all I can find is an entirely different story with the same issue number. While some places don't have a record of the original preview, others mix the synopsis with the wrong cover. In fact, it appears to be the story that was originally scheduled to appear as issue 253!

So... what's going on? Does anyone know? Are there two different Gold Digger series which are falling over each other? Or was the "Dr. Shrynker" story just scrapped at the last minute? Is it out there somewhere?? This is driving me nuts.

Probably a "Gold Digger" fan site would be the best place to ask. Probability is that the story got scrapped. Maybe legal problems with the parody?

Damn it, I hope it wasn't scrapped. I really was looking forward to that.
