Scientists at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden have found a way to make people feel like they've changed size. Using virtual reality headsets, the subject is given the point of view of one of two dummies, one doll-sized and one thirteen feet tall. They show the doll being touched, and at the same time, touch the same spot on the subject's body, making them feel like they're really giant or tiny. Subjects reported being disoriented by the experience. They say this could have practical uses for remote-controlling robots, but I think we all know how we'd use the tech.

I don't remember where I read this, but I seem to remember a story with a woman in a VR center who kept getting kicked out, because she would size-mod mid-game and stomp the shit outta the other players. This seems like a first step towards that level of immersion.

and so once we develop enclosed arenas with working robot avatars, we can link up and remote control them for a virtual experience that isnt entirely virtual.
