Wait, is this a sequel to the original, or that phantom remake?

I was only so-so on the original TRON, but it was WAY ahead of it's time. And I was sooooooooooooo good at the tank part of the video game. If they had ONLY the tank part separated, I would have been a king. Well, I did get so good on the Star Trek arcade game I could play indefinitely on a quarter. If you put it on tournament difficulty, I could play for a full half hour on a quarter. I REAAAAAALLLLLY miss that one. Only saw ONE link on the net that had a web version of that and it was 404'd.

I'm not sure how this will go, seeing as how The Matrix is essentially Tron with sunglasses.

Not to mention Angst, Trench coats, Kungfu, utter lack of interesting old-school computer games, completely void of those disc things, Philosophy that was only in the first one(which made it half-way watchable), robots that look slightly stolen from starwars, yadda yadda yadda...

The list just goes on.

I dont see how they can make a sequal. Tron was the first "fully rendered movie" (I know thats not technically accurate) with people. Its been done a hundred times over now. The "Look", while cool, is extremly dated and wont impress anyhone used to dancing penquins and talking donkies. Story aside, Tron was one of most visually stunning movies of its age, how can they possibly do it again except making yet another 3-d m,ovie with people in it?

Incidently, I liked the Tron 2.0 game, which somehow managed to keep the movies distinct look while being upgraded with 20 years of PC power (The Programs looked more Advanced, while still being people in cardboard-looking CG glowing armor). Perhaps it would stem from that?

As long as there's lasers, I'm cool with it.

Tron 2.0 Rocked. And left the plot open for another movie or videogame sequel. I wish they had altered it to allow more vehicle usage, like light cycles versus tanks and recognizers and such, but it had a good story none the less.

It'll never be over-hyped.
