The Original My Little Pony pilot/special from the 80's was pretty nighmarish. It had that scene where a few Ponies are transformed into rather nasty looking dragons. Actually had violence and talk of killing/executions...Stuff that would have been banned by the CC in the 90's onward. The 80's had some great stuff...
