Trakeena's Insect Transformation
OH!
Another cool piece I've recently done -- a single image that shows the entire transformative process of Trakeena, the sexy insect alien princess from Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy. If you're not familiar with that series, Trakeena transforms from a spoiled princess, to a fierce warrior, to a deranged villainess, to a sexy green mantis-woman before being defeated... ...later, she returns as a scarred shadow of her former self before tragically being turned into a gigantic monster. I've always wanted to show all the steps of her metamorphosis, and this drawing does just that. http://chronorin.deviantart.com/art/...eena-573795696 |

Re: Trakeena's Insect Transformation
I always felt the green form was the least appealing. Of course when she "returned" it was kind of implied she was undead by that point, after all the Light Speed Rescue season did feature the Tech vs Demons angle. Though Trakeena was far from the only female transformed.
We of course have Carron/Astronema from Power Rangers In Space who fits the corruption trope, raised by the villainous Apokiliptor, brain washed by the big bad when she turned out not to be evil and eventually going permanently good and taking over as Pink Galaxy Ranger (original pink written out so her actress could deal with her cancer, which she beat before the show ended surprisingly) Power Rangers RPM (the darkest season) had Tayna-7 a human girl captured by the big bad and turned into a cyborg assassin, naturally this came with metal reprogramming to hate humans the rangers(one who was her brother) especially. Probably the ONLY time Power rangers delved into a body horror situation as Tanya did NOT react well to learning she was a cyborg and not pure robot. Even Mighty Morphing had some process stuff. First we have the attempt by the villainous side kicks to convert the Pink Ranger into a new Empress of evil, they didn't know what they where doing so it.. didn't even slightly work. Then we have Kat, the second pink ranger, who started out as a shape shifting cat monster(the costume was clearly a kitsune)who though means never properly explained became human because she showed compassion but somehow also gained a past and human family? Then there is the oddity of initial Big Bad Rita Repulsa, during In Space she and Lord Zed got reduced to rather pathetic means, a space trailer. But when all the big bags for annihilated they didn't, instead they became ordinary humans, because unlike the other monsters they felt love. Yea despite how they got together and being evil Rita and Zed genuinely loved each other. Then somehow, never explained, Rita became a goddess of goodness? I wanna know how the heck she managed that kind of heel face turn, Big Bad to Big Good. |

Re: Trakeena's Insect Transformation
Even odder somehow Rita and Human Zed had a monstrous son who tried to destroy the rangers, it was one of the US exclusive villains and used for a cross over episode. Like many plot points he was barely explained, heck the entire bit with Rita they didn't even outright say it was her just she was "a former enemy", but the voice and actress made it clear as day. Then there is the utterly bizarre ending to Power Rangers Jungle fury which included a woman who morphed into a anthropomorphic penguin for the final battle, and no I am NOT kidding.

I like her insect form too. Great to hear you have been commissioned to draw her in insect form. Looking forward to it.

Re: Trakeena's Insect Transformation
A few corrections for you, Xanderfox:
- The robotic villain who raised Astronema was named "Ecliptor" - Karone, not Carron - Tenaya-7, not Tanya - Katherine "Kat" Hillard was a real human girl who was put under a spell by Rita to become a cat (and briefly the kitsune monster you mentioned). She always had a past and family. ![]() - Rita becoming the Mystic Mother was thrown in by the production team because both were played by Machiko Soga. It's never really explained how she got her powers back...

And also, Rita and Zedd (spelled with two Ds) were stuck in the space trailer during Zeo. They had absolutely no role in Space except as cameos.

Re: Trakeena's Insect Transformation
Yea pretty much the Villains from Zeo where all dead along with Rita and Zedd's family and minions. The villains from Turbo where basically reduced to cannon fodder and they reused the Monster suit from the American Turbo movie for the big bad, offhandedly commenting the monster in the movie was his brother or cousin or some such. Space was one of several seasons meant to be "The last season" But of course Super Senti is a Genera in Japan so there are still tons of shows that can be translated into power rangers and since Nickelodeon wants to extend each show to two seasons worth Power Rangers will have lots of shows to translate at a cheaper price.
