Sad State of Things...
https://www.buzzfeed.com/krishrach/t...rQe#.paPD90B2k
Okay here is a link. In summary Sortimid created a transformation (fetish) image of a woman finding a book and transforming into something different woman. I'd recommend reading it just to witness some guy (Sortimid) get defecated on by random faceless people, and then watch as he takes the high road without a single miss-step. My favorite quote was from the artist: "After all, we don't choose what turns us on. I believe erotic art is a way to indulge sexist fantasies safely and harmlessly. " I am struggling with understanding on the concept that the image is sexist... the definition of sexism (wikipedia) Sexism or gender discrimination is prejudice or discrimination based on a person's sex or gender. Sexism can affect any gender, but it is particularly documented as affecting women and girls. It has been linked to stereotypes and gender roles, and may include the belief that one sex or gender is intrinsically superior to another. Extreme sexism may foster sexual harassment, rape, and other forms of sexual violence. The only way I see the image as sexist is by seeing the the final image of the woman being perceived as superior to the first woman image. BUT she read a book, the woman gained some type of knowledge, she added a new aspect to herself. How is this not improvement?

Re: Sad State of Things...
While I do not agree with all those so-called SJWs that think that the sequence is meant to be some kind of political or sexist statement, I believe that their stance is that the it says that woman at the start of the sequence is simply a sex object and therefore dehumanized, while the woman at the end of the sequence has value as a person.
Therefore, tanned women with large breasts and blond hair are dehumanized and are worthy of scorn and ridicule--they're not human beings. Again, I don't agree with that stance, but I believe that's where it's coming from. |
