Name that Show

I remember I read an article online a little while ago about a one-shot game show in Japan. It essentially was about a guy named "nobu" who the show-runners had locked in a hotel room, a la Oldboy, until he won a total value of 1,000,000 yen in sweepstakes prizes.

Anybody know the name of this show? It was some huge pop culture hit in japan, and I can't remember the name of it at all. Help me out here.

I can't even remember where I originally heard about the show... It was either referenced in OldBoy or Gantz, can't remember which....

I would say it sounds more like a referrence to Oldboy seeing that he was locked in a hotel room for 15 years.

Ive heard of that show... Terrible.
If I recall they are given a contract to sign to "go on TV" and they are basically kidnapped and stuffed into that room. They arent allowed to leave or contact the outside world. One guy sang to his rice to prevent from going insane. He didnt even have anything to cook rice with, he had to eat it raw because he never won anything to cook it with...
