I found this Legal software that allows you to download Vids from Youtube in Avi Format heres and Link and i am sorry in advance if this has already been posted or it is in the wrong place

The program at your link did not work for me. Some of the reviews said that might be the case. They have a newer version here

In all truth, I prefer the FFDShow method, but that's because a little pain never hurt anybody. And once it's done, you can open the files in pretty much whatever player you want. Where-as a raw AVI is a massive, uncompressed file, FLV maintains compression and doesn't have the possibility of degrading the quality any further. And getting the DivX and XviD compressors to actually work sometimes can be a lesson in patience.
