Dave Gell: Sprite Artist/Animator for Commission

If you've been checking my MUGEN Project thread, Dave Gell is one of the sprite artists taking part of my project. After contacting him and letting him know one of the members of the forum is interested in commissioning him, Dave gave me permission to let everyone know that he is available for work. He is available for sprite work and animation. I don't know where to post this at first. But since I got him to do my project found in the BE section, I decided to post it here. The sprites shown here shows how well he does his sprite art and animation. I only link the attachments found in the MUGEN Project thread.

So far, he is charging me $100 per action but his prices are negotiable. Explain the work you wanted him to do and what you can offer. I will contact him for you and see if he accepts the work and what you offer as payment. He wanted work this way since he wanted me to refer him. Hey, good spriting is tough work, especially when you consider the animating of it. $100 for a still is a rip-off; $100 for an animation is a steal.

Everyone has differing views on payment for art. Personally (not to sound offensive), I think it's the people who can't create quality work that think it's not worth money. Once you know the effort, you agree with the request for payment or the prices in case of commissions.

Because an animated fighting move generally contains between 20-120 of those.

Anyhow, price as always is a combination between what a person is willing to pay, what the art is worth, and how much the artist values their time for that. Most artists who don't do commissions full time and/or don't have a busy full time job undervalue their commissions significantly for the time they spend, often selling them at 2-3 bucks a manhour with no additional return. These folks also are often starving for cash as is regularly seen on their pages and are overly grateful to the commissioner as well for the act of doing so.

Alright, I made an edit on the first post. Since Dave wanted me to refer him for work, the only means of contacting him is through me. Its his decision and he was glad to have me to help him. Again, anyone who wanted commission from him, contact with the details on it and what you can offer as payment.
