Last night, someone killed a chipmunk and left it on my patio.
Okay, from the start.
I have 2 cats. One is too fat to catch a chipmunk, one is getting too old for it. That, and the way this chipmunk was killed was NOTHING the way a cat would kill it. It was in two pieces. The head and everything else. Not to be too graphic, but its innards weren't inside, and blood was everywhere. Someone killed it right on my front patio, likely in the middle of the night. Cats kill without tearing anything. They wouldn't have blood everywhere, either. It'd also be in one piece, too. The only people I find suspicious are the new neighbors across the street. My mom says they could be a town-house where different people live together, and considering that three different teenagers with varying skin colors and the idiocy they caused last night (skateboarding past 11 P.M., cursing loudly, jumping over cars), it seems likely. Of course, they could just be adopted. However, I doubt a single man would adopt three teenagers. :/ Thoughts on what to do? |

I'd suggest motion-activated lights around that area. Also should get some security cams. You can get relatively cheap ones nowadays.

Yeah, the motion activated lights would do the trick.

Could have been a dog. Or a zombie.

Sounds like a cat, I remember mine would catch rabbits and leave the halves of it in different parts of the house >_>

Yes animals are often very clean when dealing with their prey.
![]() We usually leave the back door open during the day and if the cat ever catches a bird he loves to bring it inside and just snack on the thing in the living room. Gets feathers everywhere. I'm just glad that birds don't seem to have that much blood in them.

Re: Last night, someone killed a chipmunk and left it on my patio.
No shit.
I had a cat who took the heads off her prey and brought them inside as souvenirs. I remember finding a mouse head under my parents' bed when I was teeny. It was actually quite awful. She'd always leave the body elsewhere though. Hunting and killing was purely sport for her. It was our job to fix her meals. One of my cats was fat and lazy. As a baby, she did some hunting, but often didn't bother killing, just brought us live, intact gifts. She was our garter snake catcher. She'd go mad trying to keep the things in one place until we'd seen them, praised her, and let the snake out the back door. She was seventeen when she made her final catch. It was a chicken bone she found in the garbage can. We were horribly embarrassed for her but didn't let her know. Our male cat was by far the worst. He killed big stuff like squirrels and crows. He'd munch on the crows in front of me and I'd run off crying. I literally heard the bones snapping. |
