Colors for Dragoness TF
<- Lurker. But I've been making a TF RPGmaker game for a while, and have been drawing up some art for it so it wouldn't just be another "switch the base actor portraits for a TG" game. Anyway, what are some good colors for this character (post TF). These are just some base colors - I haven't added shading or textures (scales) yet. But what are good colors for a feminine dragon (Hair, Scales, Underbelly/Neck, Eye Color). I'm not a fan of red since it's pretty monstrous and generic. I was thinking white scales, but that turned out a bit bland.
If any experienced TF artists might respond, what technique of adding scales would you use w/o making the drawing look too busy or masculine? I found overlaying a "stain-glass" pattern in photoshop to be okay, but it's a bit distracting. Is there another technique like adding a few lines in certain places to make the viewer believe there are scales all over without pockmarking the drawing? ![]() Last edited by Dark Horseman; 04-07-2013 at 03:12 PM. |

Re: Colors for Dragoness TF
I would go with a dull or dark color pattern for females and a brighter color pattern for males. The reasoning for this is that in nature many animals have this kind of color pattern to attract mates. The brighter the colors on the male the more likely he is to get a mate. Though one dose need to take into account for species, behavior, and enviorment. Sorry almost lost sight of the topic at hand. Tiger shark patterns in a green color.

One and only bump - fixed it up a bit. More suggestions! I have to make a full TF and multiple images based on this character!

Re: Colors for Dragoness TF
I would go like the earlier guy with dull browns and greens, if you want your dragon tf to stand out, follow nature's conventions rather than human ones.
The female could benefit from being significantly larger and stronger than the male, and the male being showy and vibrantly colored. Of course, if you aren't careful, you will just remake the Morrigi from Sword of the Stars. Not that anyone would catch you doing that, and anyone who did would just praise you anyway. |
