I'm rather a stranger, but I have a thing to say.
Youtube does not allow direct links. So, if you link directly to the video, computers in Youtube detect those links and remove those videos. That's why all the videos linked from here have been removed. To avoid linking directly, remove "h" from the URL and make them like this: ttp://www.youtube.com/xxxxxxxx/ |

Another way is to already have youtube open and copy-paste the link you want to access in the same window from here.

Because millions of people on the internet don't directly link to YouTube videos. If they really wanted to stop direct linking, I think they would, as it's not altogether too hard to set up a referal-checking script. And sites like Digg that direct link to dozens of videos A DAY would remove the entire site in a matter of months.
Maybe it draws attention, but I don't overly think they care because it works. |

Youtube allows embedding of videos on outside pages.. this is the most absurd thread I've seen in a while. Of course they allow direct linking.

Seriously, if you're gonna make a claim like that, back it up with a URL to a youtube page stating that.
Youtube was born and lives on people directly linking to it, as do most websites. Punishing people for that would be suicide.

Perhaps what they meant was that direct linking draws attention to the videos. I imagine if they seem a flood of traffic for a number of videos that violated terms, any more links coming from that URL will get attention faster.
But as much content as there is on YouTube, they can't efficiently police it. |

You're all right (except Prof Sai), but at least in this site, we should not link directly, so the videos gather less attention. Maybe we are marked.
