Question about Story Editing

I have found some very nice stories on DeviantArt, sadly, the quality of writing in these stories are far below par & am working on fixing the many grammar, spelling, & overall errors of the story, (*Example: He/She spelled necklace as neckless*). If I were to post the story here, along with his name under caption under the title, giving him full credit for the story, along with the link to where I had first seen the story originally, would I get in trouble for doing so? However, I do want to add the stories overall enjoyment was great, I am just a perfectionist & can't stand to see a good piece of writing go to waste.

I assure you it's meant as necklace, describing a small crystal bound by a chain. This writer is very good at making the stories, but has a horrible tendency for run ons, spelling errors, & grammar errors. I've had to delete a lot of extra ands. One sentence had 4 in it.

I can't be held accountable for what I write after spending two hours only managing to fix two chapters of a two page story. It's that bad.

Truthfully, if I had any other way than DA to contact him, I would love to do so, but sadly, I am unable to do so as I can't reveal my DA account to you all. Keeps personal & buisness seperate. Also why I don't contribute art to this forum is because I know that one or two of you have visited my gallery.

Editing be a fine vocation, tis sure, but ye ought not to spread tales lest ye ask yon author if'n ye can aforehand. Suss out the lubber's e-mail if ye must and send yore changes along to him. He'll be less like to make ye walk the plank fer criticisin' than fer remastering his whole durn story. It be the author's decision what shape their story be takin', and I think I be right in guessin' ye'd rather he fixed his own grammar in future tales than makin' ye do it yoreself.
