So, it's 2009 - time for the fourth annual BESC Story Contest... I'm sure everyone knows the rules by now because they haven't really changed... The prizes are pretty much the same too. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'll probably

The prizes!

First place:

Will be paid 1.5 cents a word, they will be granted a one year free membership to not just the BE Story Club but also to the entire BEA - worth over $250! In addition to this, the author will have their story illustrated 100% more than a regular BE club story - with ten illustrations total. Not only that but the author will have the exclusive right to describe the appearance of each and everyone of the scenes they choose to be illustrated to one of the BE Story Club?s top artists.

Second place:

Will be paid 1.5 cents a word, they will be granted a six month free membership to not just the BE Story Club but also to the entire BEA - worth over $125! In addition to this, the author will have their story illustrated more than a regular BE club story - with eight illustrations total. Not only that but the author will have the exclusive right to describe the appearance of each and everyone of the scenes they choose to be illustrated to one of the BE Story Club?s top artists.

Third place:

Will be paid 1.5 cents a word, they will be granted a three month free membership to not just the BE Story Club but also to the entire BEA - worth over $60! In addition to this, the author will have their story illustrated more than a regular BE club story - with seven illustrations total. Not only that but the author will have the exclusive right to describe the appearance of each and everyone of the scenes they choose to be illustrated to one of the BE Story Club?s top artists.

All other stories will be paid at 1.5 cents a word.

Judging Criteria:

Pretty straight forward - write a good story that has such novel elements as characterisation, plot and sexiness...

Rules concerning submission are as follows:

1. All stories must be no less than 5,000 words in length.
2. Entries can be submitted immediately to prophet.tenebrae@gmail.com The deadline for submissions is midnight PST on Sunday June 28st.
3. All stories must contain BE as a main - and not ancillary ? story element.
4. Stories may not have been published or distributed anywhere else.
5. All stories will be subject to the regular terms and conditions of the BE story club. In the result of a contestant not responding - the story will default to BESC ownership and the contestant will forfeit their rights to payment.

Furry is... a term of extremely questionable meaning. Define what you mean.

If you mean a cast of fuzzy wuzzy people... I think that would have to be a better story that one that contained say... people and a regular anime style catgirls.

Your best bet for the BESC is if it's two or three white girls getting scientifically/magically BE'd to Huge but not Wow size and having sex with a white guy, usually with a bimbo/mind control thrown in for good measure.

Damn I'd be laughing so hard if this wasn't sarcasm. Don't forget manga/Asian ladies.... But yeah I get the point.

I'd encourage any writer to make an attempt, even if for the chance to see one of their characters illustrated. But don't be too High Maintenance like I was.

Sarcasm? Just demographics, really. Go with what works.

If you're applying for a job at Disney you don't bring an anime portfolio and if you're applying at Gainax you don't brring a western portfolio. Just simple business logic, give them what they want.

Given how many people piss and moan about how much MC stuff there is on the BESC - and I personally have no real interest in it - it would be fair to say that it's more a case of authors who write it being over-represented... and that if people feel a need to redress the balance, that they should take it.

As to the shenanigans accusation - well, I've no idea where that's coming from. The closest thing I can think of is the 2007 (I think) comic contest, where someone took it upon themselves to try and cause a stir because they weren't happy with the results. I'm afraid I don't do favouritism. If you want to win the contest, you'd do well to just try and bribe me with cold hard cash.

For once I'm considering entry, but I fear I get too wrapped up in the blasted details sometimes. Then it becomes more of a ecchi/hentai premise rather than a comic or story.
