The Exotic & Erotic Expo returns.
Thanks to Konami's now yearly tradition of rushing out the gate with
![]() E3 is officially on. Konami had nothing to show so far aside from announcing that Lords of Shadow 2 would be a little more like IGA's metroidvanias (not that there was anything wrong with the linear action of LoS1, of course), that Snake would now be voiced in english by an actual actor, and that they are literally forming a development studio for social games that is called OCD. In other news SEGA's bringing Project Diva f out for a retail release in North America, and a digital release in the EU. I honestly did not see that one coming. Blizzard is also returning to consoles with a version of Diablo III that supports couch co-op, and is rebalanced to account for the removal of the auction house. In other words, it's the version of D3 we all wanted in the first place. Coming up on the 10th we can look forward to press conferences from Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft, and EA. MS cancelled all their post-conference press interviews, so don't expect to learn anything about the Xbone that you actually want to know. On the 11th is a Nintendo Direct wherein Nintendo will unveil the next wave of WiiU titles (spoiler: they're all nintendo published games), and the 3DS titles that will finally get you to begrudgingly pick up the system. Immediately afterwards is Square Enix's Future of Final Fantasy presentation, which will probably involve what remains of SQEX's management bowing for an uninterrupted half-hour.

Who would have ever thought that, not only would folks come to embrace Orwell's 1984 as a guide for life but, become convinced to spend good money to bring Big Brother, into their homes?
Yep. Welcome to the future. No flying cars but, oh boy, we got such FAIL. |

Actually, Microsoft allowing you to trade games is better than what we heard at their reveal.
The only issue: Developers must allow you to do so...and why would they allow you to do so when they can make more money by forcing people to buy them new? Basically they are sugar coating their system trying to make it look like they care.

Re: The Exotic & Erotic Expo returns.
What I heard at the reveal, and what I thought would be legit because it sounded reasonable, was that xbone games would work like ultraviolet blurays. The game would come with a code that let you download a digital version, and then you could use the disc for whatever. Maybe you'd watch the movie off the disc. Maybe you'd sell the disc, and someone else would be able to watch the disc, but they'd no longer have the UV code.
Instead you can trade the game to one person, and only one person ever, who you have verified is a person you know. That copy can then never be traded to anyone else again.

The registering works far simpler than you think: It simply goes, "HEY! He bought this game! Let him play it!" no code is required, simply authorization to play the game. Once your account is flagged for that game you can play it any time, even if you uninstall it and lose your disc and take someone elses disc to reinstall. All that matters if that your account is flagged as having paid for that game at some point in time. So in reality what you pay for isn't the game per-say, but the authorization. This is why you can give a friend the disc, and they can install it but they cant play it without that authorization.

Your current avatar fits the emotion behind that statement fairly well.

Right, that's how Ultraviolet works. Except with Ultraviolet the disc does something too, because if the disc doesn't do anything then the product is circumventing first sale doctrine.

Re: The Exotic & Erotic Expo returns.
So they're doing it the same as PC games then? Most PC games you can buy the disk with the installer, or you go to the website to download the launcher which goes out and downloads the game. All that is free, but then you register an account and pay for the game and any other extra features on their website. Then you can give the disc away or hand it to a friend, whatever you want.
They can install it the same as you, but until they go online and register an account and pay for that account, they can't play. Generally people just sell the accounts after they change the user details to whoever they're giving the account to, or just use generic username/passwords and let people change all that themselves later. Is that what they're doing? I may be confused but that's what it sounds like. o.O
