Superior Spiderman's Rebirth
For those that don't know, not too long ago in Spiderman there was an event where Peter Parker basically had his body hi-jacked by a than dying Doctor Octopus. The Doc succeeded and got his revenge, trapping Peter in his own body up to his last moments (killing him) and ultimately taking over his life, thus becoming the Superior Spiderman.
However Peter's memories remained and left a ghost consciousness that hovered over Oct, guiding his morality and holding him back for the most part. Recently the Doc took notice and decided to change that. Thus we have this interesting scene in Issue 9#. It's the result of Octopus taking control of his own brain and attempting to remove Parker forcibly. As far as comics go (I mean for Spiderman at least) I think it's one of the darker scenes to be shown, Oct basically moves in and attacks him, soon is confronted by the memories of Peters friends and loved ones only to kill them with the memories of his fears and anxieties, his enemies. One of the lesser seen depictions of mind rape basically. Than it ends with his monologue and put down of Peter and everything he did, as he leaves him to die and the last remains of Peter are destroyed internally. I just thought it was a pivotal and kind of interesting scene. A lot of other stuff has happened (with the new Spiderman taking control of the city, forming his own army and growing ever bolder) and I'm curious where it'll lead, with this chapter making it clear the writers aren't going to bring Peter back on a dime just like that. So, eh? Last edited by brandygang; 08-27-2013 at 02:37 PM. |

Re: Superior Spiderman's Rebirth
Peter Parker will be back when the next movie hits theaters. I'm not reading Superior, so I don't know if Doc-Spidey got rid of the octobot that has what's left of Peter's conscience, which will more than likely be the way to "reboot" Parker.
And if Doc-Spidey really is on top of the world, then the next course of action will be to see him fall from his pedestal. Last edited by JBird; 08-27-2013 at 02:48 PM. |

Re: Superior Spiderman's Rebirth
The challenge is to get the amount of Superior issues right. I mean they ended Amazing and started with this, I imagine there were no plans to end it too soon. I fear the Superior Spiderman's tenure may be cut too short or too long.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that.

Oh and I see this has been moved to general discussion. I just thought male victims or any instances wanting to be shared had to go to the "And Everything Else" category, well anyway.

Re: Superior Spiderman's Rebirth
This is a new title, which implies a deal of effort and marketing. There was quite a bit of controversy with killing off your most well known character. Considering the amount of time it takes to tell a story in comic format, I've always felt that the status quo was changed too rapidly.
I'd have to agree, Superior won't end soon. With 2099 coming to make a visit and it seems like Ultimate may be crossing over too (Spidermen ongoing series?) Otto has quite a bit of trouble to get into yet. I'm just curious on how the eventual event where Peter returns will be handled. |

Re: Superior Spiderman's Rebirth
Tell that to Death of Superman.
This storyline will end as soon as they can no longer find a writer who wants to continue it. Oh wait they're crossing over continuities already? Alright I'm calling it as Otto falling into some alternate universe full of spidermans and a vanilla Peter Parker will replace him. As JBird said this will resolve itself right before the movie comes out.

And the only reason Miguel is showing up is because it's the result of Age of Ultron's breaking of the timestream due to time-travelling one too many times. And as for another Ultimate Spider-Man crossover, that's up to Brian Michael Bendis, who wrote the first Spider-Men story. Also, the Ultimate line will be coming to an end, soon, and Miles Morales will more than likely survive in the Mighty Avengers title. And, as I've said before, there's still that little octobot with Peter's consciousness, unless it's been "forgotten" like Peter and MJ's baby girl. Quote:

Re: Superior Spiderman's Rebirth
They started Superior Spider-Man while The Amazing Spider-Man was hitting theaters. I don't think they'll bring Peter back just because TASM2 is hitting theaters. In fact, right now the only universe with a "true" Peter Parker (not counting the abomination that exists in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon) is TASM.

Quick correction on my part, Superior started in January of this year, meaning Peter was still Peter when the Amazing Spider-Man film was released. And I also recall there being a Lizard story happening at that time. And so, without further doubt, Peter will be back in his body by the time the next movie hits. |
