petrification TF in the latest episode of Agents of shield

its a brief process, waitress touches this guy who absorbed a mysterious object, ignores weird feeling in her arm, but its already too late, cuts away to outside the diner, we hear a scream, camera goes back to the waitress and we see her arm all stoned up, slowly it spreads up her neck and across her face. Then she dies.

Never understood why some people enjoyed petrification TFs.

Just out of curiosity, does "petrification" mean they used the bezel and greyscale filter in after effects?

not a clue. Looks like they turned to ashes. Like they were burned. But they clearly said "turned into stone"

the "guy" in question was The Absorbing Man an Incredible Hulk bad guy with the power to absorb any substance and transform himself into it. The petrification effect wasn't from Absorbing Man himself rather a defense mechanism in the artifact that "infected" the victim Absorbing Man's powers where the only thing that kept it from killing him too.

*spoiler*

In the first episode, the SHIELD mercenary played by Lucy Lawless also touches the artifact and gets infected, but the petrification only gets as far as her arm before she amputates it (she's killed anyway when Absorbing Man destroys the van she's riding in).

Goddamn this series can be brutal.

its not actually petrification that is occurring. According to the 0-8-4 object (classifying it as an object of unknown origin), it gives off powerful electrical currents and anyone who touches the object or gets hit by its current will be incinerated at the afflicted area through the rest of the body. Lucy Lawless was almost safe as they cut off her hand, severing the connection to the object as she couldn't let go of it. Unfortunately for the waitress, she got an electrical charge from the piece that was part of Absorbing Man, so nothing could save her.

I believe this belongs in the Everything Else forum, as its not really dealing with transformation.
