Dood, I remember studying Literature during High School and reading at least three spin-off/re-imaginings of the Little Red Riding Hood tale so I'd say it isn't new. Same thing goes for Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella.

Well I mean this type of spin off where werewolves are involved. Seems to have been spurred on by the whole twilight craze (as with everything else).

Nah, I've seen werewolves worked into the Little Red Riding Hood story several times before Twilight was even written. It's not new in the slightest.

Indeed. Well you have a story that uses a Big Bad Wolf and a girl that wears a red hood, despite the imagery and interpretations that can come out of this just the fact that this girl is harassed by a wolf is enough to spin versions where Red is the wolf, it's natural I guess...

I'd use the thirty year old film The Company of Wolves as exhibit A. The story it was adapted from is even older.
