This was entertaining as always and was very impressive art. My only problem with his art in general is that it's very formulaic. Perhaps a lot of that is just the commissions received but I'd really like to see interaction between more then one person or actual action and story other then pure transformation. Again that's not to say I think it's bad i don't it's just getting boring seeing the exact same story over and over with no variation but for a change in clothing.

As a coincidence, I'm working on a new sequence, which should be up tomorrow on DA, that is more story orientated.

However, I can only go where my commissioners take me. I don't have much time to work on any other sequences outside of commission work, as all spare time is allocated to my comic projects.

From time to time, I'll get people wanting free art from me, wanting me to do more of this or that, or telling me my work is getting boring. Often, they don't realize how much time I put into these sequences. They take considerable time, as I don't just vomit something onto a page and say "here you go" to the fellow who commissions them. And those wanting free work or wishing to alter the content of my art don't pay me anything. I certainly don't receive any donations for all my work, only the pay I get from the commissioners.

While there are some who appreciate the work I do in the "TG community" and I'm grateful for them and those have commissioned me and are commissioning me (I certainly don't have a short supply of commissions), many take me for granted.

I know you have to spend a lot of time on these because they are very nicely detailed and well drawn. I definitely acknowledge that it's just so often I see a link to a new one of your works and while for the first bunch I was very excited to see them now I'm just getting apathetic. Again, not saying your work is bad or your quality is going down, far from it, just I wish your commissioners had a better imagination here rather then, "transform X into girl with this costume". I suppose then I'm panning some of your commissioners in that the work is usually the exact same and not really letting you branch out, also I imagine that gets a little boring for you to draw as well since anything to excess has to get repetitive.

Not taking you for granted at all. I think you're one of the most talented artists that draw for this 'community'. I like your art it's just again a little more creativity from commissioners would be nice. Sorry if you took my post as a negative and a slam against your art. I have nothing against your art style or quality thats excellent. I just would love to see some more diversity, but that again is likely not at all your fault and all the fault of boring commissioners.

He's probably been typecast. People see that he's willing to do a certain type of fetish work and that he excels in TG and clothes transformation, so they go for the sure thing. Happens all the time. Inflation artists get inflation commissions, furry artists are bombarded with furry requests, etc. When you have specific needs, you go to a specialist, or what you believe to be a specialist in that field. The natural assumption is that specialists are much better at one thing than all others.

Anyways, I enjoyed this latest sequence and don't mind the similar format. I view process material much the same way I view martial arts movies. If the choreography's good and what passes for a story and characters don't get in the way of the action, it's a good movie. If it manages to be entertaining beyond the fight scenes without marginalizing same, it's a fucking amazing movie. Cluedog's work ranges from good to amazing. Not many commissions have depth to them, but the choreography's always worth the price of a ticket.

Yeah, I think Smoochy's suffering from 'Arania Syndrome'. People are giving him a little guff while not being clear it's the COMMISSIONERS which dictate their output.

Arania gets all sorts of shit when she's merely just doing what the commissioners are paying for her to draw for them. I've talked to her and most of the stuff she draws isn't necessarily what she WANTS to draw, it just happens that's where the money is coming from in this community.

Yeah I noticed some of the comments on the deviantart posting of this were less then favorable.

It's fantastic artwork and it's exactly what a "sequence" should be. A depiction of something changing into something else in however many images the commissioner wants/pays for. It happens that, from my experience at least- people who ask for something usually aren't specific unless you request them to be very specific. Really when someone is willing to pay 200 bucks to have a rough idea sketched out you'd think they would have almost a whole story written up but not so much.

I will admit , it's certainly a more interesting piece of art when you can tell there is a "plot" behind the scenes, such as the wizard and witch sequence, which clearly depicts them trying to out do one another with their spells before finally giving up on the fight and teaming up to make a quick buck. Whoever requested that put alot of thought into it.

So smooch, keep it up , I love your art and sequences especially . Even when the idea is generic it's still fun to look at, you can't exactly turn down a "boring" idea when it's paid work so keep it up and hopefully in the future some of the naysayers will pay for something they find more interesting.

The description says it is a tomboy and the reply to the first comment on the DA link enforces that. It isn't a TG.
