Short Story: "My Wife as a Dog"

So here we go with my first-ever TF scene. Written on commission for danio13. Hope you guys like it!

* * * * *

"I just don't get it, man," Paul said, taking a sip of his beer.

"What's to get? I've already explained it as best I can," Davie replied with a shrug.

"You never show up anywhere with her, nobody ever talks to her…hell, I'm one of your best friends, you've been married to her for a year, and I've never even met her. Nobody is that shy."

"Jackie gets really, really nervous about meeting new people, and she's a homebody." Davie shook his head. "I don't know what else to tell you."

Paul rolled his eyes. "I dunno, dude. It's not my business to pry, but I mean…aren't you the least bit worried she might have, like, an anxiety disorder or something?"

Davie shook his head again. "You don't know Jackie like I do."

"Well, yeah. I don't know her at all. That's the whole point." Paul sipped his beer again and sighed. "I really would feel a whole lot better if I just, you know, met her at least once." He frowned, staring off into the distance and thinking.

The click of claws on the tile floor of the kitchen drew his attention, and he turned to look over his shoulder as a long-haired golden retriever strolled out through the sliding glass door and onto the patio, carrying a picnic basket in its jaws.

"Huh? I know I haven't been to your place in a while, but when the hell did you get a dog, Davie?" Paul asked, watching as Davie took the basket from the dog.

"Oh, she's been around for a while." Davie opened the lid and smiled, lifting a covered plate out of the basket. "Mmm, nachos. Thanks, Jackie." He stroked the dog's back affectionately.

Paul's eyes widened and he stared at Davie. "Uh…Jackie?" he said. The dog turned alertly in response to the name, looking directly at him. He frowned. "This…this is Jackie?" The dog barked once, as if replying. "Davie, man…"

"What?" Davie replied nonchalantly, popping a chip covered in cheese and sour cream into his mouth with a crunch.

"Dude. Please tell me you aren't living alone with this dog and using her name for your nonexistent wife."

Davie scowled. "It isn't like that," he said defensively.

"Okay, well, I'm sure you aren't going to tell me that you're married to the dog, so what is going on? You talk about your wife, who never goes anywhere with you, never meets your friends, has never even introduced herself to your best friend. You say she stays at home all the time, yet we're at your house and she's not here. And your dog just happens to have the same name as your invisible wife." Paul shrugged his shoulders. "What am I supposed to think? It's enough to make me worry about you, bro."

Davie sighed heavily, pursing his lips in thought. He patted the dog. "Show him, Jackie." The golden retriever whined apprehensively, looking at Davie. Paul could swear he saw her shake her head, as if telling him no. "Come on. I've known him for ten years. He's an alright guy. Please just show him?"

The dog stepped away from Davie and stood in an odd stance, as if bracing herself. She barked and let out a howl that went on an unusually long time. And then…she changed.

Her limbs began to extend, making her appear taller. Her body also started to elongate. The bushy tail shrank, slowly becoming shorter, its hair disappearing by degrees. In fact, the fur all over her body was thinning and shortening. The only exception was at the top of her head, where the golden hair seemed to be elongating and becoming voluminous and wavy. Her ears were shrinking and changing shape, becoming less triangular and more rounded.

Paul watched in open-mouthed shock as Jackie's transformation continued. Her muzzle shortened, causing her continued howling to sound different, gradually changing in tone and pitch. The snout started to separate into a distinct nose and mouth, and the black on her nose was slowly fading. Her eyes were also subtly changing shape, and their extremely dark irises were turning a lighter color.

As the fur on her underside vanished, it revealed more and more of her skin and the shape of her body. Paul could see what looked like a flat, toned stomach, and above that, two round, fleshy orbs hung down from her ribcage. They reminded Paul of a pair of breasts, which looked very out of place on a dog. Jackie's limbs continued to stretch, her legs suddenly spasming as their joints and tendons shifted around, changing from the familiar canine arrangement to one that more closely resembled…

Paul blinked rapidly and shook his head side-to-side, trying not to think that Jackie's legs suddenly looked a lot like human limbs. But the idea wouldn't go away, especially as her paws grew, her front toes elongating and dividing as the claws flattened and retracted, her rear paws stretching into a familiar wedge-like shape.

She was still making a sound, although it sounded less like a dog's howl and more like a moan. As Paul kept watching, transfixed, her diminishing tail disappeared completely between haunches that were swelling and rounding. Jackie's fur was almost entirely gone; only a faint, downy golden fuzz remained on most of her body, leaving lightly tanned skin exposed everywhere. The only place that any noticeable hair remained was atop her head, although instead of dog's fur, it now closely resembled a woman's long, wavy blonde locks.

Her snout had completed its separation. Her mouth was wide open, lined with luscious pink lips that formed an "O" as she continued to make a sound that Paul could only think of as a woman experiencing intensely pleasurable sensations. Her nose, now the same color as her tanned skin, had become a small round button with a narrow bridge that ran right between a pair of blue eyes which met Paul's gaze directly.

In a few more seconds, Jackie stopped moaning as the last of her canine features disappeared. She remained on all fours for a few moments, panting as she tried to catch her breath. Finally, she stood slowly up and walked over to Davie, who put one arm around her affectionately.

Paul was still staring, completely and totally dumbfounded. He took in the incredible sight before him: Jackie's long, lean legs ran up to delightfully curved hips, a neatly groomed blonde bush, and an ass you could bounce a quarter off of; her flat stomach showed a faint hint of muscle tone; her generous breasts stuck out proudly from her chest; her heart-shaped face was accentuated by kissably soft lips and eyes as blue as a summer sky; her hair fell in shimmering blonde waves past her shoulders; her light tan almost seemed to make her skin glow. She'd gone from golden retriever to golden goddess. Despite all this, the detail that Paul kept coming back to was the red dog collar that was still around her neck, its shining, bone-shaped silver tag reading "JACKIE" resting on her sternum above her cleavage.

"Good girl," Davie said, breaking the silence as he gave Jackie a light smack on the ass.

She yelped--Paul couldn't help thinking of the word barked--and gave him a look of mock surprise. "Bad boy," she replied, her voice as smooth and sweet as honey and carrying maybe the faintest hint of a southern drawl. She leaned into Davie and they shared a kiss. Apparently unconcerned about her nudity, she then turned to Paul and stepped forward, extending a hand in greeting. "Hi, Paul. I'm Jackie. It's nice to finally meet you."

Paul was still so dumbfounded that he didn't do anything at first. "Hello? Paul? I know how to shake, but has anyone taught you?" she said, grinning at him.

The joke managed to snap him out of his trance somewhat. "H…hi," he said slowly, accepting her hand and shaking it. "Nice to…uh...it's nice to meet you…Jackie," he managed.

"Well, that's that," she said to Davie. "Now, you owe me. I'm going to go inside and get dressed, and then I'm going to pick out a movie for us to watch tonight. That is, if our guest has no objections?"

"Uh…sure. Fine with me," Paul managed, still reeling from the idea that he'd just seen a dog transform into a blonde hottie. And that his best friend was married to her.

"Good!" she replied with a smile. "I'll see you boys inside." She stepped through the sliding glass door, both men watching her go.

Davie turned to face Paul. "Well, now you've met Jackie. Satisfied? I've gotta warn you, she's a real talker once she gets going, so now that she's actually met you, she might chew your ear off.""

Paul let that slide without making a remark, although he was tempted. It was several seconds before he could figure out an adequate reply. He finally said simply, "She seems nice."

"Well, she can be a bitch at times," Davie replied with a chuckle. "I'm kidding. I love her to death."

"So how did you two meet?" Paul asked.

"Oh, you know. The minute I spotted her in the pet store, it was love at first sight," Davie replied. "That was a joke," he added, seeing Paul's horrified look. "I actually met her at an Italian restaurant. We ended up sharing a plate of spaghetti."

Paul nodded, but in a moment, something clicked. "Wait, was that…?" He looked at Davie, who merely cocked an eyebrow and took a sip of his beer, giving nothing away.

"Let's go on inside," Davie said, gesturing at the glass door. "I don't want to keep her waiting, or I'll end up in the doghouse."

Paul groaned. "How long am I going to have to put up with these jokes?"

Davie grinned broadly. "What, are you kidding? You're the only person who knows about this. Do you have any idea how long I've been saving these up? I've got a million of 'em. Some are real howlers!"

"Don't quit your day job," Paul grumbled as he followed Davie into the house.

That was pretty funny, almost reminiscent of the short stories I used to read in college. Not bad for a revert TF story as well.

Brilliant read, qzar9999! I may be one of the few individuals here who prefer it when a woman can change her shape at will so yeah, your story hits the right spot for me. Hope to see more of your work.
