Everyone thinks their own stuff sucks, It's like some sort of universal artistic rule or something, but it's also a useful tool to improve your work. One problem I've been having for a long time is that I focus too much on the end product and end up rushing through the starting sketch/composition phase. So with this latest batch I decided to slow things down and "front load" my process, so to speak (gah, double pun!), and try to spend a lot more of my time on the underlying structure of the drawing before starting in on the details, inking, shading, etc.

What I found is that it allowed me to get a lot closer to what I saw in my mind, and as a side effect made the process of drawing a lot more fun for me.

Heck, there is nothing I'd like more than to see more artwork in these forums. Our neck of the fetish woods has been a little dry lately.

Not sure anyone is ever going to make our little niche into a mainstream thing, and I'm fine with that.

David Tenant is, and always will be, the Doctor.

But I really wanted to draw the redhead, and using Tenant's Doctor would have caused a time paradox, collapsing this reality thread and everything in it. Also, people would probably complain about it not being consistent with the show.

Yay best thread resurrection ever

I enjoyed the mind over matter sketch, made your point well.

LOL at the doctor who- very well done and you're right about the paradox.

Happy to see new works from you, including that bedroom scene, very hot.

Thank you for pulling out the oldies to share! I enjoyed the gts in the city (commanded by her twin?) with the UFOs everywhere.

No, I'm not being modest here, my efforts are just... god-awful. Can I improve? Absolutely, given time. However, daylight employment and an attempt to return to the realm of higher (insert Paulie Shore joke here) education aren't exactly conducive to the environment required to noticeably improve. I'm okay with taking criticism, but I have trouble applying it to my work, and wind up making the same mistakes (that is, the dreaded "artist's block" where you wind up banging your head into the wall a dozen different ways only to find it just as solid and painful as when you started).

Still, I'd like to think that when I have the time, I'll "get back to basics" and work on something presentable.

Call me "The Nutty Professor" - bad puns follow me, but so do teaching moments. If you can stand the former, you might just learn something about yourself.

That's what I live to do. I want to make life more fun for others, and self-realization is as good a track as any. Furthermore, "losing yourself" in your characters can help to make them more rich and colorful.

I'm considering making a decent first effort before much longer, but I'd appreciate some criticism from an experienced peer. Honestly, I'd settle for more artistes, but I suppose sometimes one must lead by example.

Well, and this is why I want to improve my efforts before I publicly submit them for review. The Signal:Noise ratio is sublime right now, and I don't want to do anything to potentially jeopardize that.

I wouldn't want that - I doubt that's the kind of thing where I'd get much time for a second chance.

I dunno, man. Ever see Tennant - as the Doctor - pissed off? Smith may be prone to his bouts of nigh-incompetence, but Tennant is just downright terrifying. I could picture him doing just this as retribution for some grave injustice.

No second chances... that's the kind of man he is

I think you need someone... someone to stop you

As I recall, she'd just found their solitary weakness; and inside that nearly impregnable outer shell, they're deceptively frail creatures, which - as memory serves - have no place in this reality.

...and that's the really odd bit of the program. Despite Mongoose's explanation, I can see a feasible scenario where the Doctor becomes suitably enraged in his Tennant form - perhaps one of his companions is EXTERMINATED - to plot a suitable vengeance, and the Smith incarnation sees the plan come to fruition entirely by accident. The Doctor travels to the Dalek Homeworld, enlarges his companion, and... I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

Best of all, because it maintains the continuity of the series, it could easily make its way into an episode, but for Standards.

Re: Mongoose's Thread o' Random Stuff

Actually Song only asked the Dalek to check it's files and look her name up. The Dalek itself then started begging for mercy like a frightened child. As much as they hate the Doctor, they don't fear him like that... that says something. lol

Oops, wrong animal.

I don't like posting unfinished artwork but I feel bad for not posting anything in a while, so there you have it. Just been busy trying to finish the next comic.

Anyway, enjoy.

-Cheers.
