Good. I hated the hero-centric aspect of WC3, even if I liked the game.

I just watched an interview with one of the lead developers. He pretty much said its the same starcraft with new graphics and new units. A few tweeks demanded from players over the years added in for good measure.

Too bad for your guardians that my goliaths have just as much range as them and i can make them alot faster than you can make guardians. So your guardians are quickly decimated by my goliaths.

Thats why I love brood war even more than Starcraft, goliaths have the same range as guardians and valkeries decimate mutalisks and carriers. The added bonus of medics is just over kill.

And then they're overwhelmed by my respawned army while yours isn't even back at half strength and I have ultras to take care of the puny goliaths and do significant building damage and little you have can take them out.

Again, every race can take out every other race if played right. That was one of the beautiful parts of the game, no one lone race was superior, they could all win and most units had their uses.

My army wouldn't even be half as hurt as yours, I was talking about me defending and you trying to rush me. Your rush army is obliterated while my defense troops would still have to be up. Some repairs and rebuild here and there and my base is ready for another wave.

As for balance, the races are amazingly balanced until that lame Protoss player gets an SCV or drone with a dark Archon and startes to make his own Terran/Zerg base. I HATED when they did that.

If I were truly rushing, you wouldn't have half the units up that you said you would by the time I was attacking, so it's actually rather moot . No upgraded goliaths and maybe not even siege mode for the tanks, depending on how much time I spend. By the time you get those, I have ultras I'm ready to get in and have a significant army at my disposal.

In either case, I would have done significant damage and had another army at my disposal, they wouldn't have been waves on a rock unless I was stupid and tried to do it with all zerglings or something dumb like that.

With the whole 3 army thing, if they could get the game going long enough to get 3 full-sized army's, then the other players really have failed. It should be really rare to snag those units and have the time to build with them, especially since the zerg creep tends to make everything else difficult when multi-racing units.

The Dark Archon's mind control ability was the biggest redeeming feature for the protoss side. Mind controlling a drone/SCV to build your own 2ndary race army is just awesome. The problem I had with Protoss was they were slow build and expensive units (awesome dmg with Reavers but each bomb cost$). The slow build is what gets ya cuz you can easily get overwhelmed with a larger force that took less time to build.

And it looks like Zerg's blitz attacks will even be sweeter with that Dune worm thingy transporting units.

Me and my friend had this same argument. He said his guardians would wipe my goliaths.

Guardians do 39 damage each hit, and attack slow. They are also EXPENSIVE.

Goliaths cost 125 minerals and like 50 gas, and do 29 damage each missile (this is fully upgraded of course).

Goliaths also build WAYY faster. In the time it would take him to get his guardians i could have a huge army of goliaths. Not to mention that since they both have a good attack range, if you manage to drop a nuke behind the atacking guardians, they will all die without harming your goliaths ^.^

Which is why I said I'd pull out other units to counter the goliaths, many of which build faster. A lot of zerg ground units can deal with the goliaths, especially if they're busy dealing with guardians. The guardians take care of nearly all the ground units aside from goliaths and high templars (because Psionic storm owns slow units). For those that don't, you bring in one of the several units that can or I could just slow the goliaths with my queen and cause that nice fast attack to crawl, or plague them with a defiler to cause them to act like they were made of glass. Attacking Terrans with just Guardians is stupid. As soon as they've done their job of doing significant damage to the other ground defenses the rest of the attack deals with what the Guardians can't.

As for nukes, please, they're even slower. When you see where it's going to drop, you can get the guardians out of the way easily. And that's if you don't have detection to kill the ghost (who is useless if uncloaked) and cause those resources and time to go to waste. Every good player will immediately look and most likely find where a nuke is dropping with plenty of time to avoid it or destroy a ghost. In a situation like that, it's obvious where they're going to be targeting. My overlord would find the ghost and the guardians would dispatch it in plenty of time and if I can't find it, I can always get my units out of the way.

Alright, Zan, Truman, you both have your points, but I gotta give it to Truman here.

A war is NEVER won on the defensive. Just man the barricades long enough for a Siege Tank Rush to blow the hell out of Zerg infrastructure, quineg?

How come Siege Tanks can't just run weaker units over? You'd think something that masses over a hundred tons wouldn't notice gooshing a few score zerglings.

The Nydus worm always existed as the Zerg teleporter. It just has a really neat graphic when you spawn it now instead of just appearing in a burst of blood. Play campaign much? Hard to miss those.
