Girl to Mermaid
OFFICE OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY GENETIC ENHANCEMENT TEST #004 Petty Officer Sharp is the latest volunteer into the ONI-GENTEC program. Having served well for the last three years, it is the opinion of this officer as well the GENTEC personnel review board, that she is well qualified to handle the physical and psychological demands of enhancement. After passing her physical background check, Petty Officer Sharp selected the Aquatic Enhancement. Most likely do to her rating (STG). Aquatic is designed to allow underwater breathing and greater flexibility and tensile strength of internal organs when surfacing and/or diving. **BEGIN EXPERIMENT** Petty Officer Sharp is kept in an observation tank. It is equipped with a radio system so we can keep in contact with her. Other than expressing a slight embarrassment regarding her nudity, PO3 Sharp is perfectly fine. **ELAPSED TIME - 3 MINTUES** Following the initial injection of GENTEC-COMPOUND AQ-XC1, Petty Officer Sharp begins complaining of intense stomach pains. This is a normal reaction and will pass momentarily. The exact physical changes involved in AQ-XC1 are as yet undocumented. GENTEC continually refuses to predict mutations. **ELAPSED TIME 10 MINUTES** Petty Officer Sharp has passed through the initial pain waves. AQ-XC1 appears to be working quickly, expanding the skin between her fingers and webbing her hands. MRI's to be taken after her enhancements are complete will determine the extent of her internal changes. Sharp is intrigued at her new physical features. According to her remarks, she is not experiencing any pain. **ELAPSED TIME 17 MINTUES** Approximately three minutes ago, Petty Officer Sharp began complaining of sharp neck pains. She grasped her neck tightly and kneeled over. Now, having just stood up and removed her hand she reveals her newest enhancement - gills. Given the success of the first three GENTEC formulas it is safe to assume they are fully functional. While it may cause some minor cosmetic issues for her, her enhancements seem quite useful for someone at sea for extended periods. Compound AQ-XC1 might prove useful for Submarine Service Personnel as well. Sharp reports an interesting, feeling in her hips and legs. Otherwise she feels no pain. **ELAPSED TIME 20 MINUTES** AQ-XC1 is not suitable for further use as is. Unfortunately for Petty Officer Sharp the enhancements are as of right now, irreversible. The skin around her legs is growing and fusing to itself at an alarming pace. Obviously fusing and turning itself into a tail. Petty Officer Sharp was unable to maintain balance, and hit the floor fairly hard. ONI currently has no use for an enhancement that alters a subject's physical abilities to this extent. She is no longer able to work on a ship, and therefore must be discharged, with heavy compensation. Compound will be sent back to GENTEC immediately. Petty Officer Sharp is reporting chest pains. Medical teams are standing by. **ELAPSED TIME 23 MINUTES** Petty Officer Sharp has stopped breathing. Enhancement Experiment Terminated. Medical Teams have been dispatched... **EXPERIMENT TERMINATED - ENHANCEMENT FAILED** Petty Officer Sharp was unable to be revived by the medical staff. Time of death set at 3:36 PM. Contacts specified on her waiver have been notified. **CONCLUSION** An autopsy on Petty Officer Sharp revealed that her lungs somehow became un-functional shortly after her tail completed its formation. Apparently the Aquatic Enhancement Compound shut down the lungs once her form was deemed fully, aqautic. Her gills were analyzed and determined to be fully functional. They had become her only source of oxygenation. Without submersion in water, she essentially 'drowned.' GENTEC has been notified of these results. |
