Bad Blood (Frooooooooog TF)
From an article in a local newspaper:
Quote:
...Mike Malloy and three friends are the executive producers of a 1950s-style indie horror movie called “Bad Blood.” The movie – written, directed and produced by Tim Reis, who grew up in Dunwoody – stars Malloy’s younger daughter, Mary, and in a small role features his older daughter, Kaleigh.
...“Bad Blood” is a truly frightening film about a medical experiment gone bad. In researching a cure for an unnamed disease, a doctor and his lab technician cross frogs and humans and inadvertently create a gruesome amphibious version of a werewolf that during every full moon turns into a truly repulsive attack creature intent on either killing or infecting its victims, who in turn become creatures.
Mary Malloy plays the film’s main character, a troubled young woman who becomes infected. In one horrifying scene, we witness her excruciating transformation into the creature as it begins its murderous rampage. The special effects are frightening.
Like many independent films, Bad Blood had a very tight budget – a total of $70,000...
...Another effect of the low budget was that the team could not afford digital effects. That turned out, however, not to be a problem.
“The horror film community actually prefers tactile effects to digital,” said Reis. “They seem more real.”
As a result, Mary Malloy endured hours in make-up to be transformed into the creature.
“It took five to six hours to get my head done,” she said, “with three different sets of teeth, eyes and hair.”
Reis credits his partner in Black Rider Productions, James Sizemore, with the special effects. Sizemore and his team, which includes his wife Ashley, are quickly making a name for themselves as special effects artists.
Reis and Sizemore plan an aggressive run at film festivals...
