Re: Lost
Yea I was tearing up the last 20-30 min of it.
For most of the episode/season I thought the flash-sideways was an escape route, it being the afterlife really threw me for a loop.

Re: Lost
Yeah. I'm a little confused...but it was a good ending.
And to explain my last post, Smoke Monster was lame. Smoke Locke was awesome.

Overall I'm much happier with this ending (much much happier) than with The Sopranos. This was an ending, this had closure. The story of Oceanic 815 has been told. The Sopranos ending was too open-ended for my taste. Did he die or didn't he? I don't need no Schroedinger's cat BS. It felt like they were deliberately leaving it open in case they wanted to do some Sopranos movies or something.

Re: Lost
I would've loved to see Hurley's time as guardian of the island.
Jacob is a dick who thinks he's above people and only ltalks to one person. Hurley is the kind of guy who'd make you margaritas while you relax by the beach. They definitely imply it went a lot better than Jacob's rule. (ie "Do what you do best. Help people." and "You were a great Number One.") I'm still laughing at Jack's time, though. "You must protect the island for as long as you can." *three hours later* "welp" But yeah, I totally loved this ending. I'm not really sure how else you would end a show like this. Hell, just seeing Rose and Bernard chilling and doing their own thing made the whole episode worth it. |

Re: Lost
OK. They were on the island, right? But they died? Or did they die in the sideways universe place? And what happened to Hugo, Ben, and all the others who escaped or lived on the island? Are they alive? Is it a different afterlife too?
I've yet to put my head around it. Maybe I missed something.

Hugo, Ben and everyone on the plane went on and lived their lives. In the afterlife time had no meaning, people who died in different times and places were all able to come together and meet once more. That's why Hurley says to Ben "You were a great #2" and Ben says "You were a great #1". They lived their lives afterwards, we just don't see it. Hurley might have lived to be hundreds or thousands of years old for all we know. Many, many people died in tragic ways so it was real nice to see that in the end they got what they deserved, a happy ending. Almost makes me want to believe in an afterlife. For some reason I can't get the idea of Ben and Hurley dressed up as Gilligan and the Skipper. ![]()

Re: Lost
OK. I guess it makes more sense if I can read a plot synopsis like that. Thank you.
And now I want to draw that picture of Ben and Hurley. They were two of my favorite characters.

Re: Lost
sat down on tuesday to watch and found out it was Sunday. Shoulda listened to you guys, no worries though I caught it last night on Space (Canadian version of Sci Fi channel)
Well I watched it and all I can really say is: Fuck. YOU. J.J.Abrams. I hope you get testicular cancer and then get smushed by a comically large 16 ton weight. I was so very excited and I was really freaking into it up until the last half hour when they introduce their "heaven/ purgatory" cop out. I mean Jesus H! What the hell?! I stay faithful for 5 seasons just so I can see that? No! Go to hell! They could have done anything, anything and it would have been better, and then to make it even more of an insult they toss in the scenes during the credits of a quite crash site to leave the whole existence of the island, of the entire fecking show ambiguous! Not to mention the purgatory thing opens up a shitload of plot holes! What happened with the nuclear bomb? Why didn't Jack turn into black smoke when he went to the heart of the island? God. Damnit. It did offer a sense of closer, it wasn't the worst ending they could have done. But come on!

Re: Lost
I'm glad I never watched that show. I'm pretty sure I'm better off without it.
I mean really, the hate/love/garbage that people are spewing online about A TV SHOW is hilarious. |
