Re: MIA: The Death List
I have to disagree. Tone, subject matter, phrase style, recurring characters and settings, story length...these and more can make a writer stand out. If you're familiar enough with a writer's style, you can tell.

Agreed. Writers tend to be left out though, I have seen a LOT of good writers around here who simply don't get much attention simply because visual artwork in the form of a picture or a sequence is more impactful and require less thought processing. Basically people have to take longer reading a story in order to get what it means than looking at a picture.

Re: MIA: The Death List
Hexen, I too feel that writers don't get enough attention, and feel quite the same as you do about the reasons why. I can't help but wonder if it was because of a lack of writers in the beginning of the genre. I don't really remember to many writers when I first got into the genre.
Just some food for thought. If a picture is literally worth a thousand words, then a story that's about 6-10 pages is equal to 4 pictures. I agree with Lycanthrokeith, while he never comes out and says it, writers aren't revered quite as much as artists, which is unfortunate because writers have the ability to open your mind to worlds that you never knew existed. And while I love a good TF pic, or photomanip, I'm sure it took as long to create a picutred work of art as any story every written. Pictures can be enjoyed by all, but a truly refined conisour of the genre is able to appreciate the word smithing of a respectable writer. (I hope nobody is offended by this post, as no offense was meant be conveyed.) Last edited by ryansgalant; 11-15-2012 at 02:29 PM. Reason: spelling |
