Car-Troubles! Will Draw Fap/Schlick-Material for Moneys!

My car's gone kaput recently and it could cost me hundreds if not a thousand or so bucks USD to fix (it's a '03 VW Turbo Beetle). With college being a 100% out-of-pocket expense for me right now, I need to scrounge up some extra cash in my spare time NOT working my normal job (night-shift floor cleaner).

So, I'm open for commissions! I can do short stories, single pictures, or sequence pics. I draw in MS Paint XP-edition, for those who aren't familiar with my art, and attached to this post are some samples of my art. Read the following price plan as well as what content I WON'T do.

-Give me a story idea and any specific scenes you want and I'll assemble it into a story! Be advised that fan-fics may not work out if I'm unfamiliar with the series, so be sure to ask me just in case.

Pictures:
If you want a single-shot pic of a character or up to three characters together, I can do that too! If it's an original character of your own, give me a description of them and I'll do my best to draw them. Mid-process pics are also doable! If you want to purchase multiple single-shots of a process I can do that too! Colored and BW are available for your tastes!

Sequences:
If you want a process to be all in one sequential picture (5 or more 'frames'), I can do that too! Pricing plan is a bit different than for pictures, but same rules apply to characters you want featured! Be sure to tell me if you want your sequence to be horizontal (left to right) or vertical (up to down).

Well, it seems like an issue with the alternator and/or the battery. Took about a half-hour of jumping it to give it enough charge for me to drive around 10 miles or so from near my college to home. 'ABS' light goes on when the power drops to virtually nil, as well as the battery light and the one of a circle surrounding a triangle with an exclamation mark in the center.

If it's just the battery, it's a VERY easy fix. If it's the alternator you are in it for some cash...

If it dies while you are driving, it's likely the alternator. If it runs fine once it starts, it's simply the battery... a <100$ fix.

If it is, feel lucky...I had worse than a dead battery. The WHEEL FELL OFF MY TRUCK last saturday as I drove home from work...apparently the lugnuts didn't properly fit the spare I put on (I had a flat at work, so swapped it for my spare before heading home).

One does not truly know fear until the wheel falls off their in-motion vehicle...

This is why one should avoid those vermin called "Mechanics" at all cost. I maintain and build my own cars and trucks from the wheels up.

Other possibility could be the "Brain Box", if so, OUCH but, it does sound like a typical battery issue to me. If you have an Autozone or the like about, have them hook up the magic gizmo to see what it thinks might be the problem. After that, a code reader would be a good next step. One or both of these tests will help track down if it is the battery, alt or some other matter of electrical magic used by the auto industry these days.

If nothing else, you will be well armed to face some mechanic who, I promise you, is looking to retire on the cost of repairs to your poor car.

Yeah, we did make a stop at a nearby Autozone. We only checked the battery charge, though. Admittedly I should have asked him to check the code and print me a slip with said number-readings. When he checked the charge on the battery, it barely read 10Volts, and of course HE believed it was the alternator. I of course will wait to see what a code says (my brother knows a few things about VW codes and what they ACTUALLY translate into meaning).

But, yeah, I hope it's just the battery and nothing else. Either way, I'm still doing commissions as mentioned in the first post. Already working on a mTF fanfic for someone on Deviant Art (+3K-words for the fic, so $10 already).

Alternators aren't too difficult to replace if you got any automotive know-how....depending on location. Fortunately, all of mine are in very obvious places with easy access.

For car horror, might I also recommend having your axel bend in half while driving it?

Hmmmm as to the reading so far, did he have you rev the engine to 1500 RPM as he checked it? If not, if you have a handy voltmeter OR one of those goofy (and very cheap) alternator testers (red light / green light), it is very VERY easy to do.

10 is, of course, way WAY low. Closer to 13 is a good rule to follow.

By the way, have you checked your battery cables and terminal connectors? Often, these can corrode very quietly without showing much until they stop letting the happy Electrical Pixies to pass through them.

As for catastrophic car failures... *grin* Having the crankshaft break in 3 places at speed (aprox 85 mph) was rather interesting.

AMEN!!

GM small and big blocks from 89 back are basically the best design ever managed by the hand of mankind. Of course, rip out the TBI or FI and replace with a proper carb for the best results.

UPDATE: In my idiocy I made the window for commissions too short thinking I'd have people pouring in to get fap material ASAP. So, the window has been extended to about a month from now. w00t!

Too bad you aren't in my area..I could get an alternator replaced for you cheap. Can find one in a scrap yard and one of my buddies coulda installed it...we usually pay him in food, lol.

Having friends who build cars has perks. XD

I wish I had some disposable cash, else I'd commission something but I need to save up some of my own to get my own car issue fixed.

It was caused by the previous owner apparently. I found a photograph in the glove compartment that was taken the day he bought the car (it was original owner with the dealership owner) and the rims were very different. So this guy put on after market rims with lugnuts that don't fit the spares rim, because the spares rim is the original rim. Basically it was an accident waiting to happen, I'm going back to the dealership who sold me the truck to tell them they sold me a vehicle that was unsafe and that I would like to have 5 lugs (and a tire iron that FITS) that will fit the spare...I don't want to ever have to drive on 3 wheels again.

I admit I have a life-long car fetish!! I refuse to buy a new car and have built my last few from bits as, nobody makes what I want!!

Yes, there are some pretty dangerous sorts when it comes to modifying their rides and you got to enjoy the results of one of them, obviously. Again, this is why I build my own as, I know what went into it and when / if it blows up, I have only myself to blame.
