They don't cost that much more if you know what you are doing. A next-gen console will be $500-$600, a gaming PC can cost you $700-$800 (if you build it yourself) and can do a lot more. Mind you that's a basic gaming PC, but it'll work just fine.

From there you can upgrade it over time as parts get cheaper, that's the best part about a PC.
