Canada
Thinking about moving to Canada.
Any patriots here on the forum? What's it like up north? How would you describe your country in terms of living standards, cost of living, healthcare, work, ect? I will likely be taking a trip up there sometime next year, but I'd like to hear from people who actually live there.

Re: Canada
What part of Canada are you looking at? East, Central, Prairies, Rockies, West? Availability of work depends on the employment sector are you planning on entering and makes a huge impact on cost of living. Alberta and BC need engineers and pay pretty well. Can't speak for the rest of Canada.
Healthcare's pretty good. It's there when you need it. Frills are pretty low, but unless your teeth are knocked out you're pretty well covered. Apparently teeth are expendable excepting catastrophic damage. |

I've had a few more days to look at some information, and it seems exceedingly difficult to immigrate there. If my information is correct, it seems there is a 2 year back log on US applications, and you must meet certain financial and work experience criteria. I have the $10k needed in my bank account, but my work experience is a little light. I'm a fairly young guy, so I'm coming up on 2 years of full-time experience (data entry). That doesn't seem to be worth many points though. I had also considered applying to a Canadian University and trying to get a student visa and work permit; the hope being I can improve my education credentials and perhaps get an employer to eventually sponser my immigration. I'm not sure, though. I'm visiting Toronto this coming October (assuming I can get my passport on time) to check out the area and get a feel for it.

Re: Canada
Good to know, thanks. Although, since I'll be driving up there and not flying, I think Newfoundland is out of my range.

Dear Obsidian,
the north is for wolves, not hounds. I appreciate your offer to join you, but I'm staying south or booking passage across the narrow sea. Roose Bolton is now warden of the north and rules Canada with an iron fist. I'd join up with what's left of Mance Rayder's wildling army beyond the Wall if I were you. Steer clear of Giants and White Walkers though. Good luck selling your sword, friend, I'm having a terrible time at it. Yesterday I had to kill 4 men just to eat some chicken. If possible can you send me some silver before you freeze to death? I have an 11 year old highborn girl to feed and she eats more than her pony. I'm tired of her water dancing and her Needle. If you know anyone beyond the Wall looking for someone to start fires, fetch water or complain about stenches, get me word. At this point, I'd trade her for a flagon of wine.
