Support FurAffinity

In light of the recent DDOS attack against them and many other furry sites, FA has decided to try and upgrade to the Cloud. Support their efforts and you'll be supporting the community.

Spread the word.

Re: Support FurAffinity

The page doesn't mention any attack, just that they want to upgrade to allow larger files.

Apologies, I'll add a link to their twitter that discusses the attack.

The attack isn't the primary reason they're upgrading (at least I don't think it is), but in light of it and since it knocked down the website, it would seem they're just taking the plunge and upgrading as a result.

Can't hurt to donate.

Well this isn't the first time the FurAffinity site has been down weeks. If I recall it happens at least once a year where it's down for a day or two. That said I plan to help out because it is annoying when that happens.

Without a clear plan, I don't plan to donate. Not with their past history of mismanaging infrastructure and code upgrades.

Re: Support FurAffinity

Personally, Weasyl was hit by the same series of DDOS(or a -very- similar attack) and they were up within the hours. In fact, when FA was down for a week if not more during the holidays, Weasyl got hit by DDOS as well which knocked them our for.... 16 hours, the time for them to upgrade their structure and get a better infrastructure in general to combat DDOS.

Nowdays, I've yet to see Weasyl go out for even a full day(or more than one hour, if even) even when attacked by a DDoS or the like. While FA's generally knocked out for an entire day or more.

To FA's credit, though, it sound like what type of stuff they're trying to get is very similar than what Weasyl themselves got during the holidays last year that seem to make their website so resilient now.
