"Uh...mom took me out for a makeover yesterday," you tried to explain.

"Wow...they did a good job..." Lisa said, unable to stop staring.

"Okay, now say it," Cody said facing Zeke with a picture of you held in front of his face.

Nodding, Zeke found himself able to relax in this situation, "Hi Raven."

"There you go! You did it!" Cody said patting him on the shoulder.

"Okay, I can do it this time!" Zeke said psyching up.

"You bet, hey! Here she comes with Lisa, now just stay calm and say it as they walk by.

You were chatting with Lisa as you passed by the two boys who were trying to look casual. You didn't even notice as Zeke looked like he was about to open his mouth to talk only to freeze in place as he got a good look at the new you. Even Cody was taken a back as he lifted up his sunglassed to look as you continued on your way, as though he wasn't sure if his eyes were deceiving him.

"Dude...was that...Raven? Something's different about her...eh? Zeke?" Cody said noticing Zeke was still paralyzed from the shock.

"Aw man...don't make me have to carry you to the nurse's office..."

Such reactions quickly became the norm. Tony was tossing a ball up and down casually only to be distracted by your face as you came by, leaving the ball to fall on his head. You were catching surprised looks by just about everyone, you were even getting some of those hateful glances from the more popular girls.

"Good morning Lisa," Mr Criel said as he met you heading into class, "and good morning miss...Raven?"

"No jokes this time Mr Criel?" Lisa asked teasingly.

For once, Mr Criel was at a loss as he simply excused himself into class.

"This is going to be a long day..." you thought to yourself. It seemed you had a day of being the center of attention whether you wanted it or not ahead of you...

If I remember correctly, in Japan, the school system is a bit different. Students are placed in one specific class, and it's the teachers who come and go to and from class. In other words, all the students in the Homeroom stay in that specific classroom for every class, and each teacher switches class room, rather than having students switch classes with each class being held by one specific teacher.

I don't know about you guys, but I had homeroom here in america for highschool. It was only once a week though. That was the time when they'd give out school related announcements, but most people just used it as a quick study hall. Also if there was any kind of school wide event, like a fire drill, you'd be associated with your homeroom.

We had it in middle school and high school too in LA and, I would assume, most of California, though it functioned more like a study hall than anything else and we had it every day. It was basically a class you had with the same teacher and same students for the entire. We also had representatives who would go to a meeting every month and relay those events to the rest of the homeroom.

All Schools that I know of have a homeroom regardless of whether or not they call it that. The first period of a day is your homeroom if you have no official homeroom. Official school announcements are handed out then and more importantly attendance for the day is taken. This is required for legal reasons the most important of which being that the student actually attended class. If they show up late or cut later this information is thus known by the school and disciplinary action or referral to child welfare agencies can be taken if necessary. That is at least how it works in every state that I am aware of in the US and I would assume its much the same in other countries since most school policies come from the same educational philosophers.

It was only for one day so you tried to just relax and enjoy the attention. Thankfully, nobody asked you out. It seemed you were too unapproachable for that so it was just a lot of eyes that couldn't take their focus off you all day which you had to admit could have been way worse. School went on until the end of the day finally came. You headed back home as two onlookers watched.

"Man, she was pretty cute before but suddenly she's unlike anything I've ever seen. Now I don't blame you for choking Zeke," Cody said as he watched.

"She's even more perfect than ever...how could I ever ask her out now?" Zeke said depressed.

Meanwhile, in a dark room...

"No! The spark went to some random girl in town? Dammit! After all the trouble I went through!" said an angered figure in front of a computer screen, "Well, this isn't over yet. She shouldn't be hard to find and when I do, that spark WILL be mine! Mwa ha ha ha!!"

"Hey! Keep it down in there!" came a voice from above.

"Sorry..." the figure replied.

"Phew...well that's over," you said as you arrived home and tossed your school belongings onto your dresser and curiously took at look at yourself. Even in casual clothes, you still looked amazing.

"Sigh...even if I'm not staying like this, I wouldn't mind keeping the figure or even just the face," you pondered as the doorbell rang.

Coming downstairs, you opened it to reveal Tyria and Mathurin dressed in casual clothes.

"Hi Raven! Did school go okay?" Tyria asked cheerfully.

"No one suspected anything...though I got a lot of stares," you answered sheepishly.

"Well, that's as good as we can expect. Nanyel should be returning here soon, is it okay if we wait here?" Mathurin asked.

"Sure, mom will be at work for a while still," you replied, inviting them in.

Exactly on time as always, Nanyel appeared in the living room at human size.

"Ah, how did it go?" Tyria asked.

Nanyel's poker expression was unreadable as always.

"Well, all went as expected. The cause of Raven's ascension is still under investigation. The hacker was certainly no amateur. They cleaned up their trail very well even despite the destination of the spark being corrupted."

"So when do I get changed back?" you asked.

"Well...as we explained, mortal ascension is never retained unless someone important in heaven speaks on their behalf in favour of it. It seemed open and shut. We were about to authorize the reversal...when our Lord and father spoke...and said no," Nanyel explained, even he sounded still in disbelief.

"What?" Tyria said equally surprised.

"HE actually stepped forward and said no?" Mathurin asked to clarify.

"That is correct," Nanyel confirmed.

"You mean..." you said, still trying to make sense of this.

"Yes, the all father, he actually spoke on your behalf and desire that we leave your divine status as it is," Nanyel explained.

"But why?" you asked confused.

"Mortals are very right when they say he works in mysterious ways, even we don't always understand his actions. I don't know what he has planned for you other than this: May I be the first to welcome you among the divine Miss Raven, the Goddess of Love," Nanyel said bowing courteously.

The goddess of love?! How do you react to this news?

After you got over the initial shock, you realized this was big! You? A goddess for real now? You couldn't help but feel excited at the prospect.

"There will still be some details to iron out but for now, you just need to know two rules," Nanyel explained, "First, you cannot reveal this to anyone, not even your loved ones."

"Yeah, you don't want word getting out. Who knows what might happen?" Tyria said.

"Second, you are charged with assisting mortals in matters of the heart but never forget, you may never deny any mortal their freedom to choose," Nanyel continued.

"Freedom to choose?" you asked to clarify.

"To choose between good and evil, right and wrong, truth or deception, that decision must always be left to mortals. No god or goddess has the right to deny mortals their free will," Nanyel explained.

"I understand," you replied.

"Good, you still have much to learn but we will assist you however we can. For now, we best leave before your mother returns," Mathurin said as he gestured towards the headlights in the window.

"Bye!" Tyria said as the three of them vanished seconds before your mother came in.

"Phew, what a day!" she said, "How was school?"

"It was...fine..." you replied, not wanting to go into details, "I'm gonna head off to bed."

"Okay, sleep well dear...and by the way...that makeup really suits you," she said finally getting a good look at you.

"Oh...thanks," you replied awkwardly.

That night, you were awakened by a voice.

"Raven..."

It sounded like a girl's voice coming from outside. Who could it be at this time?
